I am going to be building a new budget system, and need some advice. My current build so far is:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
Memory: G-Skill 2 gb DDR800 Cas4
Hard Drive: Seagate 250gb

Im having a hard time chosing between the processors and video card though.. Should I get the cheaper E6750 instead of a Q6600... Or, Should I get the 8800GT instead of the MSI Twin Turbo 8600GT. Im lookin to keep the price about 650-700. I put this in the motheboard category cus its a tossup between the video and cpu. I am going to be gaming, however I dont consider myself a "hardcore" gamer that's going to be pissed if im 5 FPS slower than my counterpart. I want them to run smoothly on a medium size resolution. I am running a 21" CRT monitor that i'll be keeping, if thats any help. I havent really built myself a system since my XP 2000+ Thunderbird, and my current TI-4200 I have. I guess im really looking for which one is worth the bigger bang. Thanks!

Also, if anyone else has other hardware suggestions that will keep me in this price range (ie: not interested in a 300 dollar mobo), I'd appreciate it. Im not really looking into AMD either, I'd like to try out intel and their overclocking potential. Thanks in advance.

I know the 8800GT is superior, along with a Q6600.. however my budget is limited, so I can only chose 1. So, my question is.. 8800GT vs 8600GT TurboCharged................. or a Q6600 over an E6750.

personally.....get the 8800gt......and then i would get the e6750 just because its cheaper and there is really no reason to spend almost $100 more on a quad when the new processors are coming out very soon. the quad will drop in price fairly quickly..or maybe have something better for comparable price. I would just stick with the cheaper processor for now ...the performance is awesome and not alot of games take advantage of multi cores yet..

Stay away from the 8600 series cards or you'll be sorry. Quad cores aren't a requirement for gaming and won't be for some time, the E6750 with the 8800GT is an awesome combo! Going with the E6750 will save you about $100 dollars to spend somewhere else. Basicly the 8800GT 512 is only 3-5% lower in performance then the 8800 GTX. That G.Skill is very popular stuff, good choice on the RAM. Theres not many apps that use all four cores and your system will run smoothly with the E6750. By the time your ready to upgrade again quads will be the mainstream got to have processer. Good luck to you and if you have any problems with your new build come back here and we'll be glad to help out. Cheers. :D

Well, it looks as if i'll be getting the 8800GT once newegg gets them in stock. Im also switching out the ram to some crucial ballistix, for the sole reason that it's on gigabytes recommended memory list. Thanks!

Crucial's RAM overclocks far better than Corsair, Micron makes the most popular IC chips in the world. Since Crucial is the same company as Micron you know for sure that your getting the best RAM IC chips. Corsair orders almost all the RAM chips from Micron/Crucial. Thats makes Corsair, OCZ, G.Skill and all the other memory companies memory assemblers not memory manufactures. My Crucial's can go past 1200MHz even when there rated for only 1066MHz.

Im sorry, I misread that.. I thought you had sad that they weren't your favorite brand of memory. I've had completely good luck with the memory. I used to buy only micron back in the old days, and I've stuck with Crucial/Corsair for quite a while now.

Crucial is the consumer branded name for Micron, same company. Crucial+Micron = one company.
