Hey guys, ive got 2x 1.6ghz LV Xeons for socket 604 which both have a pin removed to get the voltage from 1.3v to 1.6v to let them run at 2.4ghz+.
Heres my problem: Apparently everyone who overclocked these cpus uses some special Asus board (PC-DL/NCCH-DL) which has to be u-wired as well to increase the voltage... at least that's what google says...
Anyways, i dont have such a mainboard however i do have a bunch of dell socket 604 dual boards laying around. More specifically, I was thinking of putting them either into a dell poweredge 1750 board (quadpumped 133) or poweredge 2850 board (quadpumped 200)?
If this is not possible, could I just get some random board designed for this cpu and just run-it at normal speed? Put another way, if i dont u-wire the cpu sockets would they run at normal 1.3v eventhough the pin is already removed? I am not fussed about overclocking vs. not-overclocking, i just want the system to run without spending a lot of money on it
As you surely figured out ive got very little clue about overclocking, so sorry if i said something really dumb.
