PCI Express 2.0

i have a Asus Striker Extreme nForce 680 and was wondering if the new nvidia 9800gtx (which has rumored to have pci express 2.0) will wrk on my motherboard or will i have to upgrade my motherboard ?

Normally the new cards are backwards compatible to older hardware.
