Why do i have a thick black line on top and bottom of my laptop display

why do i have a thick black line on top and bottom of my laptop screen

This is normally due to incorrect screen resolution.

Right click your desktop and go to personalize/ display settings and move the slider and apply the resolutions until you find one that will work for you.
