cd/dvd drive help select

Hi guys i don't know if cd or dvd drive are the same?what the difference can both of them play software cds?gaming cds?
is it dvd drive only for dvd cds?
is it cd drive only for cd discs?

Most, if not all DVD drives will read CDs as well, but CD drives will NOT read DVDs.

Seeing how cheap both of them are, get a decent DVD combo drive drive and you will be good for any gaming CD/DVDs among other things
