Firefox links not "hyper"

I seem to have a problem in Firefox with any type of internet address I copy and paste into an email. The address to the site shows fine in emails (Hotmail), but it's never a clickable hyperlink (unless I click the "Insert Hyperlink" button in the toolbar). The address must be copied and pasted into the address bar by the recipient. Links using IE perform automatically as intended. Sorry if this seems like a completely stupid question   I tried to find a simple answer, but so far nothing seemed to address the exact issue.
