Boot from a hardware RAID

Is it possible to boot to an OS directly from an addon PCIe hardware SATA RAID?

Do you mean as in not using any hard drives connected to the motherboard, and only having hard drives connected to 3rd party add in controller?

If this is what you are asking then yes it is not only possible but in the server world it is often standard. My computer has all hard drives connected to an Adaptec RAID controller.


If you are trying to do this and its not working you may need what we commonly call a "F6" driver. I can give more details if this is your problem.
