Constant reboot looping dell laptop

Why is my Dell inspiron laptop on constant reboot?
I have an Inspiron 1525 about 2 years old running vista.
Yesterday I plugged my iPhone into it for first time and laptop was working fine. This morning when I turned it on I can't get to the login screen, it's a black screen. It then keeps rebooting. I have tried system repair and safe mode, neither work. Help!
Please go easy on me as I am a novice but will try the repairs you suggest.

You can repair your Operating System or select start up repair option.
