Does it matter if you do the full or quick for format in windows install? Any difference besides waiting 90 minutes for 500g to format?

if the hard drive is new and never has been formated before it's better if you do the full format the first time around. anyother time i do a quick format and everthing is just fine.

i agree with godless..

A full format will detect any bad sectors or other issues with the drive, so if the drive is DOA you should know before going through all the headaches.

Quick format will just write the partition table.
