Hi Guys,

I have been looking from reviews to get a better cooling system for my stock E8400.

I just want to know how good is this Zalman 9700LED cooling unit compare to the others out there?

Thanks

Zalman 9500/9700 are high performance solutions. They work exceptionally well when cooling the E8400.

they are good BUT if you are gonna really push your CPU the thermalright 120 extreme is the ultimate cooler!

The Zerotherm Nirvana beats both the Thermalright 120 Extreme (Unlapped) and the 9700:

EDIT: And it costs less.

The Zalman 9700 LED is a great cooling solution, it cools on the same level as the Tuniq Tower 120 using Artic Silver 5 thermal compound the plus+s I'd give the Zalman over the Tuniq is the size, the overall quality of the product, and the quiet if you want it quiet, its quiet if you crank the rpms its very tolerable but does perform nicely.

I have the Tuniq and the Zalman and if I had to buy over again it would be the Zalman, my 2 cents!

Edit///
My bad I left something out, I had to lap the Tuniq to a mirror finish, took quite some time its not easy to lap the Tuniq and not come away ripped to shreds from the fins! The Zalman came with the heatsink base mirror finished!

I really like my zalman...and it's just the 9500......and I don't know about anyone else but I hate that everything has to have a stupid LED on it nowadays.....just spend the extra money on making my part better...I could give a rat's a** if it glows.

I got a 9700 LED and noticed that there is a FANMATE2 controller as part of the installation but I'm wondering where to mount it in a CM 690. After having the sound remote on a pair of old SB speakers for a few years, I'm loathe to stick anything onto the case with double sided tape. Any ideas? I thought perhaps on the other side of a slot cover with a drill for cabling?

Yeah mounting the fanmate is a bit of a pain...but slot cover is where i have it....maybe you could work it in to be accessible from a drive bay?

You can just leave it off all together, but then your fan will run at full speed 100% of the time.

Thanks PS, somehow this has mod written all over it, if I can get off my chair and make something that won't ruin the front appearance of the case. Easy access would be good but I'll put up with it until I've gotten everything installed and ready.
