Yes it does sound strange. I don't really understand your question. You say when you removed it from your mobo the bootup process will take up to 15 minutes longer when normally it takes around 1 - 2 minutes. So have you already removed it?

Yeah I think kickeme21 is right.Your mobo is trying to auto detect the drive.

The auto detect can tack a long time if the drive is missing.
