8800gt Rivatuner Issues

So when I first selected to change the frequencies manually it told me I needed to reboot in order to properly detect clock frequencies so I did. After I did I went back in and it just said N/A for the frequencies, in nvidia control panel it also says 0 for them. What is wrong here?

Edit: I guess I can't even change the clock speeds to manually put it up to its default. Did rivatuner break my video card?

Wow, this is almost exactly like my problem about a week ago.

Go under the monitoring and tell me your clocks from the graphs. If they are low (Ex. Core=400 Memory= 850 Shader = 500) then I fixed it by doing a system restore to about a week back.

Also if you can run 3D Mark and tell me if your results have dropped since last time if you have run it before

Yes the graph does show it at 400 core 810 shader 500 memory, I can't do a 3dmark atm but I'll do that as soon as I can.

Then its the same as mine (or I'm psychic and guessed)
No, they're the same as mine.

I tried reinstallation, but my solution was to do a system restore to a week back and voila, it was back to normal

I did 3d mark and I'm down to 7369 from 11325 so the clocks are definitely running lower. So you're saying uninstalling the driver and using driver cleaner pro didn't work? System restore is the only way to fix this?

Edit: I had a system restore point from yesterday which is before I put this card in so I just did it and it did not fix anything.

Really, my bad...When I had the problem I was with EVGA like 10 times and each time they said reinstall the driver and each time it didn't work. Eventually I gave up and did a system restore and it worked.

Glad you fixed it...Have fun with the comp.

Did you uninstall the old drivers under the device manager then use driver cleaner pro before installing the new drivers? That should always be done when installing new drivers as files can conflict with each other.

So now I have another problem, is it weird to have this many problems with rivatuner? Now for some reason every time I change fan control to auto every time I close rivatuner it switches back to direct, even if I have it selected to startup on windows. It even switches it in the nvidia control panel too.

Thx for that. I have one more question, I've successfully oc'd my core and shader clocks to 740 and 1804 respectively but if I try to overclock the memory from 1000 it actually lowers my 3dmark score, I also get an error in rivatuner saying that I changed something that would prevent it from being loaded when windows starts. Is 1000/2000 the highest an 8800gt's core clock can be clocked? I didn't get any artifacts or anything all the way up to 1105 with atitool but like I said it lowered my 3dmark.

Don't mind what Rivatuner said, just nod and hit okay.

What's your PSU? Perhaps that OC overloaded the PSU, thus causing slowdowns.
