Hi there

Did I find a bug or is it true what other players in the area said, that
what I experienced is normal?

What happened?:

I was standing at the Brickstown gate in Independence Port and was
watching Lusca. I was not part of a team. Just standing there.

Suddenly a couple of heroes started fighting Lusca. When they eventually
succeeded a message on my client appeared telling me that I earned the
badge for defeating Lusca. I don't understand why *I* earned the badge
'though. This doesn't sound right but the other players said all I have
to do for the badge is stand near enough to Lusca.

What do you think, is this a bug or not?

thanks,
~T.

PS: No, I did not get XP

You're not the first person to whom this has happened. It's probably a
bug regarding how close to Lusca you have to be in order to get the
credit. Personally, it just seems wonky to me that earning the badge
would have anything to do with proximity.

Yeah it's wonky, but better than having to do the most damage to get a
badge like with the other monsters. Nobody would even bother to touch
Lusca without a full group of damager dealers then.

Not.

The problem is that many people go after Lusca and the traditional
method of badge awarding (on the killing/damaging team) can't work since
there are too many players.
It's all part and parcel of their "purple to everyone" monster code so
that anyone can join in and help fight the big threats.

Lusca in particular is pretty dangerous over a large area with those
tentacles and that nasty spit, so you're going to have a bunch of people
who did no (or next to no) damage to him while helping in some way (even
if only heals or handing off some insps) and the area thing was probably
the easiest thing for Cryptic to code.

If you're not in a team, and you're defending, controlling or healing,
you'd get squat for your efforts. So a badge radius is reasonable, I think.

It's not like it's worth anything - towards accolades, etc.

Yet...

The devs still haven't said what is going to be required to get access to
the next epic AT that they release. It won't be the level you have gotten
to, as they have already done so.
