I got my DVD Recorder back from repair today and of course the HDD was wiped clean. (Bastards!)

Anyway, I immediately took out the HDD and put it into my XP machine thinking I could just copy all sorts of stuff from my comp so that I would have something to watch, but it turns out it's not that easy after all...

Apparently It's partitioned into two drives, one 300mb FAT32 partition and one partition which is either unformatted or carries a file system which XP doesn't recognise. It simply reads as "RAW", size is 0 bytes, but it does have a drive letter.
Now, I'll of course leave the 300mb drive as it is to now screw up anything, but how about the other partition? Can I just format it using NTFS or FAT32 and then copy stuff onto it, or do I need to do something tricky?

Thanks.
