How does a person make a PNY 16GB SDHC card so that it can be formatted. I keep getting the message that it is "write protected and it won't format.
I have recently bought a Aluratek eBook Reader with 7" color LCD and
this card doesn't show up in it.

On the left hand side they have a slide which makes the card locked - have you tried unlocking that ?

If your using a micro SD card and dont' have a lock on it then you may have got one of the few thousand that have a small issue with the original low level formating. in this case just download the tool from panasonic that is designed to low level format any type of flash media. http://panasonic.jp/support/global [...] index.html

2.0 retail is the most current stable release

oh forgot to mention the bug is on normal SD cards also for PNY, Kingston and a few others smaller brands.
