Wireless ip connection releases

I just bought a laptop computer and have it set up on a wireless D-Link Wireless router model wbr-1310. My problem is after a week or so the ip on the wireless conection get released and i have to go back and reinstall the router all over again. How can i permentaly set up the ip connection on my laptop?
