after having ordered mine 8800gtx, i just had it cancelled(how much it hurts) but i would rather wait, why? because the 8800gtx has already served a while, and the GT is just a MID card. So i am now waiting for a next gen card, from both ati or nvidea i am not bothered. Bare in mind i am still waiting to play my beloved oblivion(and ofcourse crysis)! at the highest on 1680x1050 means i just have to wait longer:P. but what is there to wait for? please everyone in a situation like me (to ease the pain) lets talk bout which cards are coming out and to make the wait less. and bare in mind i am pre preparing for alan wake!

consider yourself lucky, i wish i could order something with an 8 in it.
or a pci-express.
or a dual core.
or a ddr2.

chyea.
one day, it'll be nice to look at the box of a game and say to myself-
"i can play this without screwing with the settings..."
lmao

i'd really love it if the next gen gpu's used less power and made less heat, though.

one day maybe gpu's will be passively cooled again.

Oblivion is easily played at the highest settings with antialiasing on an 8800GTX, but Crysis is not even close. :(

There's nothing wrong with a 8800GTX (I wish I had your problems) and only yourself to blame. You may hurt for a few weeks or months (the latter more likely than the former).

you cancelled an 8800GTX? that's just one of the dumbest things i've heard recently. why? you can pick one up for $500 and it'll smoke anything out there except crysis. well guess what, nothing smokes crysis. the 8800GT sure doesn't. it just makes you feel better that you didn't spend a lot and still got smoked. nvidia is focused on releasing their new 8800GTS right now, not the G98. give the G98 6 months at LEAST.

and what are you going to do? wait for the G98? AHMIGOD!! ATI RADEON HD 60000 is out in one month! be patient! wait for it! patience!

"
well i still have time to cancel the order, just one day though!, so should i wait? but i am gettin very unpatience:(, gtx seems cool and big:P and i game at 1680x1050, so is the new one going to be much better?,
"

very patient. re-order the 8800GTX, or order an 8800GT. either will rock. get the 8800GTX, have rockin performance in all but crysis, and still only spend 50GBP more than you would on a 8800GT. then, when the revision to the next high-end card comes out, get that.

I just thought this was funny. $500 isn't a lot for a video card? If you spend $500 on a video card that will not be able to play one of the games you want to play, then what's the point? Waiting is the best thing. In a month or so, the new g92 cards will be out, and according to nvidia, they are SO MUCH better than the g80. Why spend $500 now for a card that will be obsolete to most demanding games coming out if you're looking for the best performance while still maxing out the settings? I say wait. $500 isn't cheap.

Actually the best thing to do imo is buy older cards, game at a lower resolution and then buy a new one when needed in 2 or 3 years. First gen cards always are overpriced or buggy. If you really do need the top of the line, than wait a few months if not the 8800gt should be fine for you.

That's a very good suggestion smoked, in fact, that's exactly what I do. I always buy 2nd generation stuff, since 1st generation products usually lose their value quickly.

Very happy with my purchase of a 8800 GTX almost one year ago for $579 AR was a GREAT buy.

Over one year of supremacy is hard to beat, especially with less than a $80 drop off......

well 8800gtx is out there for a year, and if i get one now i will only be playing the MAX setting for another year!, thats to much, i cant spend £250 on a card that am gna b using for a year and half way in between i wish i havent bought it because the new cooler ones are out, when is the next TOP card? is it going to be the new GTS? thnx:)

but the thing is guy i have a big budget (spent on it alot) so price is not really a factor, so if i buy i want to buy big!, and the gtx is not big anymore:P

G92 is the 8800GT; Nvidia has made no announcements about a new flagship product.
