Hi,

I've just spent the past two days struggling to get the internet working on an XP Pro Packard Bell desktop. It had a re-installation from XP home to XP Pro service pack 3. Since then the desktop has not been able to connect to the Belkin G+MIMO Wireless modem router via the cd setup, or through a manual setup where an IP opens the setup to the router.

I then checked my hardware device manager and found that the;
AMD 690G Chipset Driver for the SM Bus Controller
Motorola SM56 Modem driver for the PCI Modem
ATI Display Drivers for the Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
ATI GART Drivers for the PCI Standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
AMD 690G Chipset Driver for the Ethernet Controller and
Compro Vista TH350i Videomate Series Driver for the Multimedia controller
all have yellow question marks and exclamation marks next to them. I've been trying to locate the drivers by using another laptop that i have connected to the internet, downloading to a usb stick and then copying across. First i tried using one of those Driver scanners but the none of the drivers it found were extractable from there zipped up states due to them "part of a spanned set, please insert the last disk of the set into the drive" but i had no disks!

I am having trouble finding these drivers. Am i doing the right thing. Is the missing or corrupt driver the cause of the desktop not being able to access the belkin router. I have tried using the rollback and "add hardware" facility within XP but the required drivers cannot be found.

PLease help

I don't know if you had try this already, but the best place too look for drivers is Dell website:

http://support.dell.com/support/do [...] ~ck=anavml

Put your specific Dell model in the right place, and look for your drivers.

I hope this will work for you.

Thanks. I did as above and found 5 ont of 7 missing drivers. I had tried the suggested site previously but when i clicked on download products i kept getting a "server not found message". Tried it yesterday again and it worked so thanks.

Problem now is I am still missing my ethernet controller driver and my multimedia controller driver. I dont know the exact device details in order to download the two missing drivers. My desktop is a Packard Bell Imedia 3082. The packard bell support site does not have the and they also do not list the devices specific details. I have tried searching for a day and a half and am stuck again. Can anyone offer any help to tracking down the ethernet and multimedia controller. I have downloaded and installed the multimedia driver from the Pack Bell Imedia 3082 site but still it is yellow with exclamation mark. And i still cant connect to my Belkin router.

Thanks

They normally download as zipped. You may need to extract the files, and then run the driver setup.exe application.

They are zipped but when i try to extract it brings up the message that they've been spanned and i need to insert the last disk. I am not able to unzip them unless you kno away around. Thanks.

Thanks Aford10. I read the last paragraph and was still unable to extract the spanned files. But I have only My multimedia Audio Controller device driver to find now.
