i just got my sata drive today 160gb western digital ,i was wondering how can i partition the drive when i dont even have my OS install????
or do i partition/format when insert the os disk and it prompt you to partition??
2)how do i install os ?save to hard drive??

yes you can partition when you are installing windows or any other os. if you can attach the hard drive to another computer, you can partition there.

If you are installing XP, after it first boots off the CD, I think its "enter" then F8 to agree, then you will be presented with a list of hdd's in your system, it is here that you can press "c" (i think) to create a new partition and then size it accordingly (keep in mind its in MB not GB)
