I have number of reasons to be able to have my OS on a Flash Drive. Portability, security, and if I'm not wrong speed. If you can do this would you mind telling me how and also links to information.
If I'm not wrong Vista should boot from a Flash Drive in about 15-20 seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't have one yet but I'll probably go with a 32 based on what you have stated.
I'm not looking at high sustained but very fast burst speed for quick startup and shutdown. Also Writes won't be important but Reads and Access Time will.
I'll be using a Velociraptor for Gaming, Pictures, and Large Documents.
Everything else will be a secondary HardDrive or Home Network Server where speeds won't be as important.

I have vista with all updates and some programs on my C partition, and it is about 14.3 gigs. But I also have the pagefile on a seperate partition, and I've disabled system restore. So I think you definitely should get a 32gb flash drive.

With that said, I'm not even sure if it is possible to install Windows on the drive, and if it is, it may kill the drive fairly quickly do to constant access to it. I'm not completely sure, but this is just something that might happen.

If it's just reading except for a monthly update here and there I don't see it being to strained.

We would all love to know how long it takes to write or read 14.3 gigs to a current 32 GB flash drive.

I'm actually looking at this one.

This project probably won't take off till next week so I have some time for suggestions. I already downloaded the "stuff" to get it started but I'm not quite bored enough to get it going.

If Vista is updated, will you have enough room on your flash drive?

Should.
I've already downloaded the Virtual PC and AIK so I'll work on getting it going this week.
Edit:
And that would be a no. Definatly going to have to go to a 32 as I'm already at 17.8.
