Hi to all. Im new in this forum, and I arrive trying to get some critic about the box configuration im doing.

Im going for a new very good computer, with 1 processor.

This is the configuration I come:

1x PROC.INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6600 2.4 1066MHZ 8MB
1x MB INTEL D975XBX2
2x MEMORIA 1GB DDR2 800
1x GRAVADOR DVD SAMSUNG SH-S182 18X
1x HD 320GB SEAGATE SATA 2 7200RPM
1x GABINETE WISECASE WSK-571 500W 24P
1x MONITOR LCD 19" PHILIPS 190CW7CS27 WIDE
1x ATI HD2400 XT 256 MB PCI Express

Feel free to make modification or give me some tips... I think that with this description you can have a idea of what im looing for..

Still have doubts about using the Q6600 or AMD 64X2, about this Mainboard model. Extreme processors are out of choice (to expensive for now).

thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forums mate
definitely keep the Quad core
also if u dont need CrossFire , go for a P35 board like ASUS P5K-E or GIGABYTE P35 DS3R

Extreme processors arent worth the money (even if u had the money ), because the only difference between Extreme and non Extreme is that Extreme has unlocked multiplier

Thanks for the quick replies.

I dont know yet if I wont come to use Crossfire ...But P35 is better them the one I choose? If I have to choose between one of they, P35 is the best choice?

And What about the video card I choose? Is this the best choice in this price range ? I thought about a SAPPHIRE 512MB X1550 VGA/TV OUT/DVI-I DDR2 PCI-E.

Other thing I have doubt is about using Watercooling, do you have any good site the ships wordwide ?

Thanks!

Ditch the 2400 and get a 2600XT, best sub $200 video card out there. (beats 8600GTS for $30+ cheaper, similar in performance to 1950 Pro)

What do you want to do with your build? (gaming, office work......)

The guys here can give you some better advice if they know the purpose off your build.

My purpose is to make it all. Im a computer enthusiast and work with computer too. So my needs will be gaming (not the primary one, but eventualy I will be playing some games), I also work with Photoshop and design aplications.
But I want some of the best mainboard and some realy good price/benefits video card. Im prety sure about the Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, and want a realy nice mainboard so I can enjoy all of my hardware... =D

I would change the video card to a 8800GT if you want to do some gaming and it fits in your budget. (great price/preformance ratio)

- Take the Quad, you will not regret it
- The P35-DS3R Maziar recommended is a good choice.

- I do not know the "WISECASE" with included psu therefor i can not comment on this one.

Hmmm nice!
Looking for the P5 family what you think that would be the best choice:

P5N32-SLI Premium
P5 Striker Extreme
P5B Deluxe
P5B Premium
P5K Deluxe
P5N32-SLI Premium
P5W DH Deluxe

What of these are the best? Doesnt matter the price... just want the best mb...
In my simple opnion P5 Striker Extreme or P5K Deluxe seens like the best boards..

thanks again.

Do you want to use two video cards?

(Don't buy a SLI board if youre not gonna use it)
I think the striker is overpriced and there is a new nvidia chipset coming soon, which maybe better

I would opt the P5K deluxe because this is the only P35 chipset

Okay. So the mainboard is decided. Im going with the P5K Deluxe.

Now lets go to the video card. The 8800 is not available at themoment, so im thinking in an alternative, I read that 7600GT or 2600XT are good choices... the 8600GT and 8500GT are also available... any good tip or I must wait for the 8800GT ? Is this MB better with Nvidia cards?

The card is already avaliable in de USA and europe. (it came out today)
How long does it normaly take for new equipment to be available in brasil?

I think the 8800gt is worth te wait because it has a great price/preformance ratio.

It is far better then the other cards you mentioned.

The 8800gt only has 512Mb (i think you are looking at the wrong card)

It will cost arround 270 US dollars. (Did you see the review on the main page?)

If your in to gaming, this should be your choice.
If not you can decide to get a cheaper card.

can't help you with the 2600XT (did you look at the VGA charts?)
