Adobe reader updater, multiple processes freezing pc

Hi, I have a pc with the internet disabled. Basically with the latest version of adobe reader, when its opened it attempts to connect with the update server but obviously fails. This leaves multiple processes in the task manager even when adobe reader closes. This uses almost all the cpu and freezes pc.

Anyone have any work arounds? Alllowing interenet access does fix this but I need it disabled

Have you gone into the preferences and set the updater to "do not download or install updates"? This may prevent it from trying to run any internet connections. Under the internet setting in adobe reader, you may also try setting it to "disable in browser".
