All,

I feverishly read all the posts about the 8800 gt prior to its release and I took your advice and waited. Boy am I glad. I scored 11,100 on 3dmark06 with this build. It is awesome! Thanks again all!

M2N-SLI deluxe, bios 1203
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ 3.20 ghz (Zalman 9500 AM2)
Corsair XMS2 6400 c4 4,4,4,12, 2T, 2.1v
XFX 8800 GT 512 extreme 640/950
mushkin 550 watt PSU
Coolermaster Centurion (120mm back, 120mm and 90mm front) qfan is off
idle 36^c cpu, 30^c mobo
Viewsonic VX922 - 19" LCD

only 11100? on 06? i saw some people getting 13k with stock 8800gt with e6600 and i am pretty sure the 6400+ beats or is equal to an e6600.

Imho, you should buy Core 2 Duo + overclock it to score 13K on 3DMark06. With AMD X2 it's unreal. Really, 6400+ is a bottleneck here.

Your rig sounds fantastic.

Dont listen to the other as mentioned before, just enjoy some games now.

The X2 6400+ is a beast and is excellent value from AMD.

I will also be picking up the 8800gt when ever supply here in Australia becomes stable.

My x1950Pro just doesnt cut it in CoD 4 @ 1680x1050
(I crave max detail + AA IF i actually plan to play through the game)

Prices in Australia (320+) are ridiculous, they should be only $10-20 more than US prices max, since the Aussie dollar is 93.6 US cents I think.

And I found an x1950 pro can run COD4 at 1680x1050, just not with AA and not where the tank is in the bog :lol:.

The GTS 320 still goes for $400 here in sweden even though the dollar is much cheaper.
Can't wait for cheap GTs in a month or two.
But by then theres probably even more options out on the market.

Get RivaTuner and pump that sucker up to at least 700/1000 (I've seen up to 738/1040 stable with stock cooling). Make sure your fan is set to 100% when gaming and watch the temps. You should be able to get 12,500 to 13,500 on that 3DMark06 score.
