Ok, here's the deal. I got a Antec earthwatts 500W psu, X2 6000+ and a PowerColor x1950pro 512/256bit version. Is the power supply good enough for this system? I thought since it provides over 34amps on the +12 (2 rails x 17amps/rail) it would be fine, but some bad things hapend.

1) I noticed the fan for the CPU starting to rotate slow at system startup, and then pick up speed... Thinking something might be wrong with it and i'll just change it. ( I guess all the power was going into starting the fan for the gpu, since it looks pretty heavy.

2) But now the video card is giving me problems. It started messing up the colors on the monitor....

Is it time for a OCZ gsx 700W supply?

btw i only have 1 hd so far, and 2 XMS2 memory sticks

Well, the wattage is most likely enough for your systems, but many people tend to shy away from the Antec Earthwatts brand. Supposedly it is not very good.

Would you say that it's possible the card got underpowered by it?

no no... It's still running.

Ok, if the PS is fine, how come the fan starts getting underpowered when the card is plugged in? And the strange thing is that I think it's the CPU fan only... Do they have a common supply rail with the PCIe plugs?
