Why am I getting a message of internet site not found or unavailable

I can not download Active X, I have windows XP vista I keep getting a error message: internet explorer was not able to open this internet site The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found, please try again later

Are you behind a Proxy server? or could be your Firewall

or perhaps you off the Internet(Not connected to the Internet).

Do any web pages load? If not, you're not connected to the internet. In that case, you need to check your network connection. If you have a local only connection, right click and repair the connection.
