Can you wait one more month? RD790 boards are coming next month. They'll be expensive, but overclock better than 590 SLI. They're tri-Crossfire & AM2+(backward-compatible with AM2). & most importantly, Phenom AM2+ are going to be out.

If you can't, M2N32 SLI WIFI DELUXE. Or EVGA 590 SLI.

For ram:

Cas latency doesn't matter if you don't overclock. If you do, it can make a difference.

thx, but im not much for overclocking, never really done it, and dont know much about it, since it dosent interst me :) ok if overclicking isnt important, then whats the verdict? :)

The thing is the current AM2 boards don't support everything in AM2+. Sure you can put an AM2+ CPU in an AM2 board, but a few features will be missing. If you plan to stick with the 6400+, AM2 board is ok.

It depends on your plans for cpu upgrades.

If you're gonna run Vista, forget that GeForce 7900...get a GeForce 8-series...

Well for ram i could recommend these, OCZ is great and they overclock well. There covered up to 2.2V under warrenty.
I just ordered them myself for my new build tonight.
There 56$ after rebates and shipping.

well, i dont really wanna overclock anything, maybe fiddle with the RAM timings, but thats it, dont wanna OC the cpu and stuff, dont know enough to start experimenting with it, and yes, i wanna stick with the 6400 for now, unless theres a better alternativ? (still AMD) lemme hear it :)

AM2+ is not just for overclocking. Just like AM3, is it for overclocking only? It's advancement. Would you buy s939 now? Why not? Exactly, it's old. You want new, don't you?

IMO, now is a bad time to go AMD or for that matter go 8800GTS (8800GT comes out next week for less & beats out GTS). Phenom is coming out next month.

I'm trying to tell you to hold off on your purchase. You might regret buying AM2 now cuz AM2+ & Phenom are out next month. If you regret it, then you have no one but yourself to blame. Then around this time next year, you come back & ask the same question, "do I buy AM2+ now or wait for AM3 (out in late 2008)?" You're catching on old technology.

BTW, M2N32-SLI is a WASTE if you don't overclock. Get a cheaper board if you want to buy it now.

Agreed. Make sure you get a system that will last you a while, and if you're dead set on AMD, wait till the new CPU comes out, cuz when it does, all those other AMD chips are goin' straight to the dump...
