Simple, you buy a 2.3GHz Phenom, leave 3 cores at 2.3GHz and clock one core to say 3.2GHz for a given singlethreaded app. That should equal a 3.6GHz A64.

it will be great for single core apps.. you can find the core that will oc the furthest and dedicate it to single thread apps. You can find the two core s that will oc the furthest and use them for dual core apps.

some cores might not be able to clock as high as others stable, maybe with this one can reach your CPU's TRUE max overclock (i.e. 3.2ghz/3.1ghz/3.4ghz/3.5ghz instead of all clocked at 3.1ghz)

How did you come up with 3.6GHz? Is there some formula I am missing?

It's late and i'm too tired to find a link to wherever it was mentioned .... but hasn't there been talk somewhere of phenom (or maybe just plain barcelona) being ~15% better per clock than k8?

3200 x 1.15 is about 3600 ish (3680 ... but the 15% is only a rough figure)
