How much would an 8800gt need on one 12v rail? IF the only thing that the power supply was running was the card?

You'll need about 18-22A on the +12V Rails. It consumes slightly more power than an 8600GT does.

Err? The 8800GT consumes almost as much power as the 8800GTS.

They didn't have the 8800GTS in the power consumption I looked at, so it's hard to say on my end. Here's the article.

The 8800 GT draws less power than anything that competes with it in terms of performance. When G80 hit last year, we made a big deal out of how power related to performance. This card simply blows everything else away in terms of how much little power is needed to attain incredible performance.

The bold is what makes me impressed with this card. It needs little power to get great performance. :)

Tom's already did an article on this. "New Nvidia GeForce 8800GT Surprises" http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/1 [...] e_8800_gt/

20watts power difference isn't a major improvement for me. Though the performance difference is mind-blowing.
