Hello all you memory-knowing people!

I am currently in the act of replacing my broken memory (2x2gb 6400).
So my question is this: Is it worth paying a few bucks extra for faster RAM?
Is there alot to gain by upgrading from 6400 to 8500?

System:
Intel E6600 @ 3600 mhz
Gigabyte GA-p35-DS4
nVidia 8800GTX (slightly oc'ed)
CPU and GPU are watercooled
Systemdisc is a raptor with 10,000rpm
I also have two storage discs at 500gb each (if that is of any importans)

Current memory:
Corsair QUAD2X4096-6400C5DHX

Possible upgrade:
Corsair QUAD2X4096-8500C5DF

Would a benifit alot from upgrading? I don't play alot but I do play a bit so any difference in gaming performance is intressting.

Thankful for all your replies!

If the faster ram has been tested by gigabyte to work with your board, it can't hurt. But you should know that some types of memory won't even post right with 2 or more sticks. If your first batch of corsair didn't work right, I would try a different brand, such as crucial. The board will configure the memory speed based on cpu fsb and memory voltage. And you may do just as well overclocking with pc6400.

The corsair RAM does work, only one though. With the other one the pc just wont boot. Tried using the "broken" memory alone and still doesn't work so I believe it's broken. But that's aside the point.
I've oc'ed my CPU enough (might go for 180 mhz more) so I'm won't be buying 1066 mhz ram to oc. Does this mean there's no good reason for me to upgrade to faster ram?

The store I bought it at will, but they did offer me a store credit. So for 40 bucks extra I could get the 8500 memory instead. But this is still irrelevant. :)
To end this:
There's no reason for me to upgrade to faster memory other than it would help me oc more?
