Hi,

I have a 17" LCD (Don't want bigger than that) and i wanna play all the new games like
"Crysis", "BioShock", etc. at 1024/1280 resolution with very good display options !!

I'm going to buy 8800GTX + Q6600 Processor.

Will that do ?
Do you think i need SLI in order to use the maximum graphic options of these games ??

Thx in advance....

Depends on how fussy you are on your graphics options, Ive got a e6600 and 8800GTX and to be honest the frame rates arent as high as I would like at 1280x1024 with everything turned up. Planning on adding a post to the crysis performance thread later, as Im in the fortunate position of having a CRT monitor and hence able to test FPS at various options at resolutions from 800x600 to 2048x1536 Just for reference at 800x600 im seeing max FPS over 150 with everything at minimum, and at 2048x1536 with everything on im lucky to hit 10fps :D Will get some more concrete organised results tonight.

To be honest I think you may be better of looking at SLI ing the 8800GT rather than buying a single GTX.

You'd be better off SLI'ing two 8800GT, they should cost about as much a a single GTX and give you far superior performance.

I would just like to reiterate that you will see a very slim amount of a performance boost at that resolution.

Personally, I would not "waste" my money like that.

For other games Id tend to agree with you.

However a single 8800GTX is not enough to give smooth performance in crysis at 1280x1024 with high graphics settings. I dont know if crysis has specific SLI issues, but if SLI is working correctly it will be of huge beenfit in crysis at that resolution.

I run the demo on an 8800GTX and its simply not powerful enough for high graphics settings. Looking over the various crysis performance threads shows that users across the board are finding the same thing the 8800GTX just doesnt cut it with this game.
