i have P4 3.0 GHz , gigabyte 915g motherboard, x1950 pro, 2x512Mb kingston ddr1 ram. i want 2Gb ram for COH opposing fronts. my motherboard supports ddr1 400/333 and ddr2 533 ram. should i sell the two 512Mb ddr1 and buy two 1Gb ddr2? i don't know if 915g will handle ddr2 well.

It would be most unusual if your mobo could support both ddr and ddr2 memory. Go to the kingston (or other memory vendor)web site, and enter your mobo into their configurator. You should get a list of compatible modules. You might be able to add 2gb of the same type that you have, giving you 3gb.

---good luck---

can't do that. only 2 ddr1 slot and 2 ddr2 slot. i think i will buy one 2gb ddr2 instead of 2x1Gb and sacrifice dual channel for future expandability,
