I'm wondering if the picture quality of those channels will be as good as
they were on Voom.
If they are, I might signup.
Archived from groups: alt.tv.tech.hdtv (More info?)
My guess is (and this is just a guess) that they'll be carried on the 61.5
bird, which means you'll need two dishes to pickup these and the main birds
at 110 / 119. There should be tons of b/w allocated for them (at least to
start) so they should be excellent quality even though they will have to be
MPEG2 instead of 4 (I believe VOOM was using MPEG4) until the Dish
transition - whenever THAT happens. One thing is for sure, as a Dish HD
package subscriber already I'll be calling them on May 1st to find out! :-)

No guessing required...it has been verified that the channels will be
carried via the 61.5 bird.

I just called Dish, I'm already a HD subscriber with them. Have to have a
2nd satellite for $99 and pay an additional $5 a month. I already pay $10
for some pretty lousy HD programming. Seems to me like they should include
it in the HD package to make it worthwhile. I think I'm going to save the
$5 bucks and pass on this deal for a while.

For myself anyway I am saving about 73.00/month. I had Dish and Voom so now
I have the same channels I watched on Voom for 5.00/month instead of the
78.00/month. I already have the 2nd satellite for Dish due to my receiving
an International station as well.
