I'm wondering if anyone has tried using AS5 on the 8800gtx and if it lowered the temps at all because at the moment the thing runs really hot (not sure how hot as I'm on x64 vista and have yet to find a tool that will tell me the gpu temps, any suggestions in this area welcome too).
I did this on my old 6800gt card in an old build a year or so ago and the temps went down a good 7-10 C, so perhaps it will help with the 8th-gen card.
RivaTuner 2.06
I use Everest to monitor temps though both work.

I did it and it only dropped a few, like 3-5 or so.
The best thing you can do is run Rivatuner and set the fan to always run at 100%.
That alone will drop the temps 10+ deg. Also make sure you got decent air flow in your case"meaning intake"
Rivatuner 2.06 is great to monitor temps and has a signed driver, so will work with Vista 64 perfectly. Don't know about the AS5 and the 8800, I have my GTS with the stock cooling (PCI blower under it tho) and I'm idling at 50C, load low 70's (extreme loads, Bioshock, World In Conflict).
