Hi

I bought Sim City 4 Deluxe yesterday
Im trying to get the hang of it, but whenever I do a commercial zone, there
is no development at all,
the houses get built, and farmland, but nothing else...
I've made sure they have water, electricity etc....

The manual doesnt really help either
Thanks in advance
Julia

Does the RCI meter say they want comercial? Is it low density? SC4 is very
different to others so it can be difficult to switch and get the hang of,
with SC4 you need to start with just low residential, roads/streets and a
power plant, then slowly add more as they demand it and you can afford it.

The most common cause is:

1. You're doing it too fast... the development takes time. Doing it too fast
means you keep spending on more development without waiting for the results
of your development. Turn the speed up (Ctrl-2 or 3) and wait a bit.

2. You provide everything... I did this too when I first started. In the
early stages your city doesn't need all the facilities... they don't need
water yet, and they don't need schools or doctors.

3. Don't build the powerful plants... just use the wind power at the start.
It's cheap (for less than 5 or so... more than that and the upkeep gets
high) and it's non-polluting.

Visit www.simtropolis.com ... it's a great fan site of SimCity. They have an
omnibus section, which contains many articles about the game mechanism and
advices.
