Windows XP wont install

Hello,
I am trying to install XP pro on 2 laptops that crashed one just wont format after deleting the partition and creating a new one and the other just says errors but i have a feeling one of the drives have died as it makes a lot off sretching sounds when its trying to spin any help would be great.

It seems that you HD's are damaged.
I can tell for sure that the second one (with the scratching sounds) is the source of the problem.

About the first one: are you getting some error message while trying to format the drive?

scratching sounds is never good. Drive is prob. dead

what are the errors that the other drive gets?

Thanks for the reply to my question i has suspected that was case so i am just getting prices on new drives.
