Run qbasic on windows 7

How to - run qbasic programs on windows 7 ? - do not want a 300$ upgrade for Mr Gates as I do not have 7 Ultra or one other version that allows virtual pc (XP) to run on windows 7 - any other alternatives - eg 'dumb down' to xp - ie reformat the w7 and load XP - is that feasible on a windows 7 machine - ? cost
