my old toshiba crash got black screen useing recovery cd after it run err msg: operation system missing

Missing operating sytem usually means it's having trouble reading information on harddrive.
Place the drive in another computer as a 2nd harddrive and boot that computer up so you can retrieve files (if MBR is lost you won't be able to access the data). ****Your going to need to format and reset up windows using the xp cd .
