I'm building a new PC. I will be using the DG33TL motherboard (Micro-ATX, minimal OC possible). I basically watch movies, play a few last gen games (Age of Empires 3, Civilzations series, Madden, Battlefield 2), and run Office apps. I might be a bit a video editing, but nothing major. I am getting the Intel RetailEdge deal, which is a choice of:

1. Q6600, Intel DG33TL MB & Vista Home Premium @ $219
or
2. Q6700, Intel DG33TL MB & Vista Home Premium @ $249

If I go with option 2, I have to wait another month to get the kit. Is it worth $30 and a month?

I know the Q6600 oc's well, but from what I understand, the motherboard supports little to no OC.

What would you advise?

I'd say wait. Because technology always changes and wit the Quads coming out you don't know if your just better off buying the lowest end of the quads then the top end of the duals.

But to answer your question since your motherboard doesn't support overclocking and it is only 30$ extra i'd say you wait cuz ur gonna look back on this and say...damn it why didn't i just pay the extra 30 :) lol I know I'm always like that
I bought the 3500 and I didn't want to waste the extra 20 for the 3800 and I had probs.

And don't forget in a month prices will go down:) MOst importantly!

If going Micro-ATX, definitely wait.
It sounds like you will have a small case and minimal airflow.

The Penryn will use MUCH less power and be quite a bit cooler.
You might also want to be looking at the 8800GT or perhaps an even cooler GPU.

The wait isn't 65nm vs. 45nm...it's q6600 vs. q6700...it's going to be one or the other...I'm thinking the q6700 is the way to go, as it's got a better multiplier (10x vs. 9x) Won't help me much now, but if I switch MBs in the future, that will be nice. Plus I get a 266 MHZ kick right now...

If your getting one or the other... get the Q6600 its $30 cheaper you can oc it a little to catch the Q6700, and you can use it for a month before you would have got the other. In a months time there should be more penryns flooding in and youll regret the Q6700 even more if when you recieve it there are better penryns for the same price.

True...except I can't OC much if any on the DG33TL MB.

New Q: How big of a PSU do I need? I will have:
2 Sata HDDs
Geforce 7900GS (or equiv.)
1 or 2 DVD drives
Creative Audigy2
2 GB ram (2 Dimm)

Don't have a case yet...

I say get the Q6600 now. Not worth the extra $30. They're basically the same chip, but one is clocked higher than the other. For what you're doing, the Q6600 will be MORE than enough to suffice your needs. Furthermore, if you would require any more power in the future, then you can easily oc it if you replace your motherboard.

As for the PSU question, a good 500 WATT with around 25-30 amps on the 12+ rails will be enough.
