Hi,
Can someone please explain a couple of RAM questions i have and offer buying advice please because I'm confusing myself.
Basically the bottom line is i want some good 2x1 gig future proofed RAM to put in my Gigabyte 965P DS3 now, and then transfer it to my new board purchase (Probably a GIGABYTE GA-X38-DQ6 LGA) next year when the new chips come out.
Can i put in 1066 rated memory (Ballistix Tracer, which someone suggested) because it's really 533 x2 and my board says supports 800 rated memory? Is that right?
If i can put memory of this speed in how do i get the most out of it? At the moment my Corsair XMS2 800 (PC2 6400) RAM is at 750 memory frequency and 1.9V so I'm not even pushing that with my 1:1 ratio, 375FSB!
So if anyone can offer a Ram buying solution and possible tweaking to get max RAM performance I would be very grateful.

Theres not really such a thing as "future proofing".... If you add memory that is faster than the supported motherboards speeds - memory will just run at best speed... If you put 1066Mhz DDR2 in a board that only supports upto 800Mhz DDR2 - will run at 800Mhz DDR2...
Your saying next year... who knows maybe DDR3 will be the norm by then.....
Yes but when i buy a board that supports 1066Mhz it will run at that speed so i would call that future proofing, wouldn't you?
That was the point, buy ram that will be held back on my present board (because now is a good time to buy ram) but be fully utilized in the future.
