I am putting together my second computer and am running into some new problems. I have an MSI 651M-L motherboard with 1 stick of PC3200 RAM and a 2.4GHz P4. When I push the power button the cpu fan spins, but that is all. No beeps and it doesn't sound like to hard drive spins. The specs on the motherboard say "supports two 184-pn unbuffered DDR200/266/333 DIMM." The memory I bought says DDR-400/333/266. Could the memory speed be the problem, or have I got bigger issues?

maybe the memory...since the memory controller is in the RAM itself. So the mobo has no control over it.

So I got the computer to boot up, but Windows will not load. I keep getting the start-up options page. I tried Safe Mode, Normal start-up, and just about everything else. It runs fine with my old processor, but not with the upgraded P4. Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem with my MSI MS-7005 651M-L . After a problem with the power surge, when I turns it on, the fans spins, the lights get on but that´s all, no beeping, no booting. How did you make your computer to run the BIOS and windows again?

I realise this is an old thread, but I'm posting in case some one else has the same problem.

Check that you are using a compatible CPU on this page...
