I ordered all my parts tonight except my video card. I wanna get a 8800gt, but i cant find one. So im stuck with a great comp but no video card. What should i do? I found a evga 8600gt superclocked on newegg for 99 after rebate. Should i buy that and use the step up program when the 8800gt is more availible (never used it, not sure how it works)?

If you can, just slap in a cheap PCI card or something, and wait on ATi to release their HD3800s on the 19th this month. I'm sure you could live without gaming for another week or two. :D

Do not touch the 8600 series or you'll be sorry you didn't wait.

I would wait. I'm guessing more should be available in about two weeks at most.

If you take the quick way out and buy the 8600GT/GTS you will probably want to hang yourself in a month or two because the performance difference is really big.

Do yourself a favor wait for the 8800GT unless you are really interested in making a noose for yourself.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the 8800GT in stock again on Thurs 15th or the 19th, whenever the 3800's are released.

I ordered my MSI NX8800GT OC on 10/29. I am STILL waiting to recieve it, but the restock should be within this week so I would personally wait, at least you dont have to wait almost a month like I am. I would go for the 8800GT. Ya it blows to wait, but I've been waiting for awhile now. Hang in there.
