Does anyone know if some laptop HDs have circuitry that reduces drive performance to keep disc temp below a factory set maximum?
My drive isn't a screamer or anything it's just a run of the mill Hitachi in a Dell notebook.
I installed a SMART sensor app cause i was bored and notice that frive temp never goes above 47c. No active cooling ever turns on, and I don't think the heat pipe is that efficient.
I do notice the drive's performance drops off significantly, where moving a 1gig file can take a long, long, time. far longer than the drive's specs would lead me to believe. I know there's a bigg diff between specs and real world.
So, just a question, nothing major.
