Bought 8800GT, will I regret?

I just got me a new 8800 GT at Best Buy for $249. I am coming from x1900xt 256mb.
Did I make the right choice? I played the crysis demo and was disappointed how my new card performed. But then I look at all cards benched and none of them are any better for this game. So I assume even if the new cards come out they will still struggle with this game with everything to the max, am I correct? If I am not then would it be a wiser choice to return the card and wait and see what will new cards performance be like? And by the way will my new card be at lest twice as fast as my x1900xt?
Thanks in advance
Yuriy,

To be honest I dont expect a graphics card with amazing crysis performance till this time next year, I dont think the G80 or G92 variants will have the power necesary without SLI \ dual GPU cards. The games simply far too demanding for current hardware.

I own a 8800GTX and thats not overly playable when everything is whacked up.

Give your 8800GT a wizz in other games and you will love it, but crysis is something else and its going to take a while before the graphics cards catch up with it :D I doubt at the price you paid for the 8800GT there will be anything substantially better out for quite a while.

If you want to up performance try setting everything to max except the shader settings which you set to medium, should be far more playable then. (unfortunately you do lose substantial amounts of image quality for this)

If the only game you're going to play in the next half a year is crysis, then yes, you will regret. On the other hand, if crysis is only one of the 20 games you're going to play, then no, at $250 there is nothing to regret.

In addition, KEEP your receipt and all the packaging of your new 8800GT from BestBuy. If you're not happy with it (or if better and cheaper graphics card come out within the next month), you can always return it in 30 days, with no restocking fee charged.

Unless you're running at a rather high resolution, the GT should do okay on High detail, although yeah, nothing short of running 8800 Ultras in SLI will probably do all that well on Very High settings.

Can you guys tell me please if I get double performance with my new 8800GT compare to x1900 xt?
My logic is simple, do not upgrade unless it is twice as fast.
Thank you,

On the VGA charts from Tom's, a 8800 GTX which is barely better than a GT on a resource consuming game performs roughly 1.5 times faster than the X1900 XT. So no, it's not twice as fast.

But like I said earlier, if you got it from Bestbuy, then you have 30 days before you need to refund the card (so you might as well use it now that you have it), just don't forget your deadline!

Well i have two 8800Ultras in one machine, and i just installed two 8800 GT KOs yesterday in my 2nd machine. Both machines play Crysis with no problem.I did buy Call of Duty 4 and they run that game perfect. Whats the rest of your system like? Processor/memory? I have not had a chance to benchmark the 8800GT KOs yet,but i will be doing that today.I had to finish testing the new Freezone Elite.During testing for the review,my striker died.I did manage to get my QX6800 OCed to 3.51GHz before the mobo died, and to be very honest, the new Elite is 100 times better than the Freezone.Underload at 3.51GHz it never hit 34c. You can read the review at www.nordichardware.com/?skrivelse=520 Getting back to the 8800GT KOs,i can tell you that they performed just as good as the two 8800GTX's i had at 1920x1200 I have a 24" LCD so thats as high as i could go.

Will the price of that card decrease a lot??? I don't think so. The price is already a good deal compare to GTS and GTX? No?

If you have decent cooling you can get that e6750 up to 3.86GHz. I have one in my 3rd test machine and its runs stable at 3.86GHz.

yes rv670 or the 3870 3750 are coming out in a few days
and i think it will shake the prices a bit
i was going with 8800gt but i decided to wait tell 38700 bench's are out , ive found this interesting too

http://iax-tech.com/video/3870/38701.htm :ouch:

(((We found ATi HD3870 is actually has better picture process while Crysis benching))!!!!!
not sure to trust these but there you will find that 3870xt is almost the same as the 8800gt a 3 or 2 !!! fps behind if its true
then its great a 2 month versions of drivers may enhance it too
with it price range its really cool deal
if i was you i will not regret of buying the 8800gt
i believe i will never catch up these tech products :pt1cable:
