I currently have an ECS P4M800PRO-M, the rear USB & kb/mouse ports have all recently stopped working, cant see anything wrong, so I think I need to replace.
Whats the best suggestion you guys have? This is what my system has now so the new board must support all this
Cheap as poss (Isn't everything nowadays)
Socket 775 Dual core P4 2x2.66GHz
AGP 8x Video card
DDR PC2-5300 (Must be able to hold 2 gig)
Min 2x PCI Slots
IDE & SATA Drives
Min 6 USB Slots
Onboard LAN
Onboard Sound
Did I Mention, cheap as pos!!!
I'm not looking for anything flash and probably won't upgrade my processor for a while either so something basic to to cover what I have now - TIA
Barebonekit.net has your ecs board for $42 shipped. I would recommend something else if you had ddr2. Before ordering, check the device manager in windows to be sure you don't have any conflicts with the ports. A yellow or red exclamation mark next to a device driver means that it's not loaded. You can try updating the driver. If you can find version 2.0 of your board, then you can upgrade to the 800 fsb core2 duo, such as the 2180 or e4400.
Ive had the same board for about 8 months with no probs. Got it from one of those Fry's bundle deals. Currently runs a Celeron 420 and Linux.
At any rate, a better board would be this. It has the additional feature of dual channel ram which other Via boards do not. It also has a PCIe slot to upgrade the video later. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157115
