Hi everyone,

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 desktop that currently has a P4 3.4ghz, 1gb of ram, and a GeForce 6800 GTO. I believe my system supports PCI-E.

Is the new GeForce 8800 GT PCI-E x16 interface card compatible with my system? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That video card will work with your motherboard. You might want to check and see if your power supply is able to handle the new video card. The Dell power supplies are not know for being powerful.

According to who?

metsownme, You have one pciex1 slot and a pciex16 slot
Your psu is fine for the 8800GT, 350W @ 28amps. Your cpu might be an issue, if anything.
My 305w Dell had 22amps but I upgraded for the 8800GT.

The bottleneck will be your processor as it won't process the information to the video card fast enough.
Your PSU will be fine..Dell rate theirs by mean not max like other suppliers.

If your thinking of adding a new PSU your going to have problems fitting it in that Dell case. I just sold my Dell 8400 P4 3.0GHz and I had to cut the case up a little to fit my Antec Neo 480W PSU.
