This seemed like a good question, as I just bought an Antec 900 case for my next build. So I opened the box and saw that the Mobo standoffs are included and preinstalled. And now you know.

Come to think about it, no. I've only bought a few, but they all came with standoffs. But the Antec 900 was the only one in which they were already installed.

Thanks for the info. Yes I have purchased a new case that came without standoffs. cheap case. I see I will have to cut some holes in the mobo tray for cable management.

I posted the same link on another posting. Since I don't have a dremel, I will use a drill, hack saw, and pliers to fold the edges of the metal. I see you have the Zalman oriented so that it blows upward. Did you have to mod the fan bracket on the door to fit the cooler. I have the 9700, but I see you have the 9500. I also purchased a 133 cfm case fan to help keep things frosty.

There were nine pre-installed standoffs in mine, however there were only seven screws that seemed to be for the standoffs, and only seven washers! Was it the same with your case(s)?
The PSU screws also fit, but I didn't put them in because there weren't any washers. So I've only got the mobo installed with seven screws. I hope it won't make any difference?
@ mimart7
My 9500AT fit without any modding at all...
The 9700 should fit(dont quote me on it yet...). Worse case you may have to notch off the corner of the fan(with it on that angle you should be able to make a little extra room....). You should not need the 133CFM fan with the top 200mm being a 134cfm already......
For you hacksaw get a blade with a high number of teeth to avoid it being a pain in the ass....it will cut slower but cut better....
@ Jonesy1499
Washers....what are those for(J/K). Just dont over tighten the board and everything will be good....
Thanks for the advice. I have built a few rigs before, but never had to cut holes in a case. I had to RMA my Asus M2N 832 SLI mobo. Continuous CMOS checksum error messages. Flashed the BIOS, reset the jumpers, changed the CMOS battery, tried different RAM all ng. My diagnosis was a a bad BIOS. Just waiting to get my mobo back. Asus has a great rep for being able to take a beating a still work fine.

Looking forward to essentially a fresh build. The pics on newegg really don't show any holes, other than one right where the PSU is mounted
I wish i had taken a picture when i built by friends computer....there are 2 holes near the hard drive slots....the screws for the hard drive are now long and so no more trying to get the screw in the small holes no more...there is also holes in the back for liquid cooling.....
I will try to find some pictures....

I got the antec 900 about 6 months ago and i love it......i cut some holes for cable management and setup water in it....have a look at my build progress pics, maybe you will get some ideas! http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/myerz635/
Sweet build. I'm not going to do water cooling any time soon. I know it is a lot of work to maintain, and if you need to work on your rig, everything has be drained. I think air will be good for me for now. Other things like the Monsoon, or the Chill It, or even Phase Change imo need to further development.

Only problem with cutting holes is that it voids your warranty.
Cases are rarely returned. I have had to return only one case due to power switch problems.

Are those CAT 5 clips attached to PSU & back of the case ?
I have the 9700 installed in this case and it went in with no probs. This seems to be a popular combination...
That would be great. Cable management is my main concern for now. I'll be ordering some blue UV sata cables, and some wraps to match. My wife will not be happy when this stuff finally arrives

They are 3/8" Locking Cable Clips that i picked up from walmart for like a $1.50.....they have a mounting hole and an adhesive back, they are pretty handy. As far as water cooling goes, Its really not that hard to maintain.....i used fluid xp+ coolant that is maintenance free and non-conductive. But if you ever need to do any serious work you do have to drain it unfortunately. I have built about 40+ computers and that was my first attempt at cable management and water cooling.....i know a lot of people are intimidated by water cooling and i was too but its really a lot easier than you would think.

I know Danger Den, Xoxide, Frozen CPU, have some good kits. I want to wait until I go quad core, which won't be until mid or late 2008. New mobo, ddr3, etc. So i don't want to invest in a different cooling solution just yet. Also thinking of Peltier, mixed Peltier & water cooling, or if phase change cooling comes down considerably in pricing

Yea, you should def check out petrastechshop.com and jab-tech.com they have tons of w/c kits....i just recently got a quad core thats why i made the switch to water. I ordered a majority of my parts from those 2 sites. I was using the zalman 9700 before on my opty 165 in the antec 900 and it worked very well.
