and Ive read the latest article here saying the G0 stepping is the best overclocker

So when looking on newegg how do I determine the stepping

No, newegg does not differentiate between different steppings on its processors. There are some sites that will sort them and sell them at different prices, though. If you read the part number off a retail box, the last five alpha-numeric will indicate the stepping. IIRC, q6600 g0 is SLACR.
