Looking to build my own computer and I've got an idea of the parts I'm looking for. I'm trying to make it compact but able to play games competently. Just wondering if there's anything that needs improving.....
Case: Shuttle XPC SD32G2 with built in motherboard
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint T166-HD501LJ (500GB, 7,200rpm)
Optical Drive: Samsung Super WriteMaster SH-S203
GPU: Either EVGA 8800GTS ACGS or Sapphire X1950 Pro
PSU and RAM are undecided, but I'm looking for ~600W and 2GB
There is a power supply included in this barebone (only 250W)
So you will be very limited in choosing your GPU (I dont think the 8800gts or X1950 are possible in this setup)
So there won't be much gaming with this setup!
Maziar is right bud, that Shuttle XPC is wayyyyy to small for that PSU. Do you purposely want a case with that shuttle conifguration or are you willing to go with a mid to full size tower. I have been using the Thermaltake Armor series case for my full tower rig builds (buy one with or without the 25cm side fan). Mid tower wise you can go with the Antec P180 (i think that's the model number) or a Armor Junior Case. What will you be using this Shuttle rig for? Entertainment storage center, gaming or video/photo editing work?

I'm going to be using it as a general purpose machine, but I do want to play games occasionally.
I'd like a case that'll cool well and support a 600W PSU, but doesn't come with a bucketload of useless 5.25" and 3.5" bays that I'm never going to use.
I picked the Shuttle model because it's small and because I didn't have to worry about case-mobo compatibility, though I did obviously neglect the thought of whether it'll fit the PSU.

Thermal Take LANBox Lite
Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R Motherboard
Corsair 620W Power Supply HX620
2 GB DDR2 RAM (exact make undecided)
Sapphire X1950 Pro

Samsung SuperWrite Master S203
Windows XP
I like the Antec Nine Hundred and the Cooler Master Centurion 5. The Cooler Master is super inexpensive. Also, get the new 8800gt instead of the gts. Better price, better performer.

Looks fine, but instead of G33 , get a P35 board like GIGABYTE P35 DS3R, GIGABYTE P35 DS3L, ASUS P5K-E or
ABIT IP35 PRO

my suggestion is 8800GT. or wait for the upcoming RV670. dont get Sapphire X1950 Pro for DX9 reasons. BUT if it is budget wise, then get the x1950 pro. since the 8800GT will outperform x1950pro even in DX9 titles.
