Error performing inpage operation

Hello, Windows won't load on startup. I get an error message that reads "Windows cannot load the users profile but has looged you on with the defailt users profile for the system" Thereafter, most of the icons on the desktop are missing as well as the start button." what do I do? and Thanks

You should use your Control Panel to create a new user profile for yourself and then log into the new profile.

You can then look in c:\documents and settings\ folder for the name of your old user profile. In your old user profile you will find your missing files like My Documents, Favorites, Desktop and such. These files can be copied to your new user profile which you will find in the same c:\documents and settings\ folder

That should have been use Start->Control Panel->Users to create your new user profile.
