Machine hangs on boot with second Sata Drive

I am attempting to add a second sata drive to my system. I have a MSI 865PE Neo2 motherboard. I presently have a WD 400KD drive on the Sata one controller and it works fine. I also have four IDE drives installed. I put in a new Samsung SATA2 HD753LJ drive, connected it to the Second sata controller on the mb and when I boot the machine it goes through the inventory of drives, calls it a Master 4 drive and hangs right there. I cannot get into the BIOS setup, just stops.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

More about machine hangs boot sata drive
  1. I am having the same problem with a new WD 1TB drive on an older Gigabyte GA-8KNXP motherboard. It hangs at the point where it shows the drive name and is supposed to show the size, but it just freezes before showing the size. I can boot with it unplugged and then plug it in and Windows recognizes it, but not on boot.

Where you able to resolve your problem?
